I have been
involved in commercial art all my working life, with an emphasis in
fashion illustration. After the birth of my first daughter I decided
to work from home and started freelancing. Although I enjoyed my art
and work, it wasn't until I became involved in doll makeovers that I
became passionate about it.
Barbie
shows were the main outlet for showing my dolls,in the begining, then
I was asked to attend The National Barbie Convention in Atlanta, where
Barbie Bazaar took note of me. Before long, I was the featured artist.
The magazine hit the stands just as I put my site on the web, and I
haven't looked back since. In my third year of making dolls, I dropped
all my other freelance work and concentrated on creating and selling
my dolls.
The appeal for me is the pure joy I have in transforming a doll into my own personal
vision. As I work, I decide who this little creature is, and what she does. Her
expression and each item she wears or carries is pertinent to who she is. Each
creation is a work of art, and a tiny soul that is brought to life by my hand.
I believe this is what draws collectors to my work.
